Thursday Everyday Evangelism

The Power of Perseverance

The Scripture:

Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

The Devotional:

Have you ever felt like giving up on sharing your faith? Maybe you've invited someone to church a dozen times, and they've said no every time. Or maybe you've shared your testimony with a friend or coworker, and it doesn't seem to be making a difference. Well, let me tell you, it's in those moments that we need to remember the power of perseverance.

The apostle Paul reminds us not to become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we don't give up. Now, I know that's easier said than done, but let me encourage you – the seeds we plant today might not bear fruit for months or even years down the road. But if we keep sowing those seeds, if we keep sharing the love of Christ with those around us, eventually, those seeds will take root and grow.

The Point to Ponder:

How many times did Jesus have to share the same truths with His disciples before they got it? Or how many times did Paul have to revisit the same churches and encourage them in their faith? Evangelism and discipleship are marathons, not sprints, and it takes perseverance and endurance to see the harvest come to fruition.

“Identify one person in your life who you’ve been trying to reach with the gospel. Commit to persevering in prayer and in sharing your faith with them, trusting that God will work in His perfect timing.”
— The Dare

The Reflection:

When have you experienced the fruit of perseverance in your own life or in your efforts to share the gospel with others?
